Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 27 September 2017

Here is the excerpt from the log of local police activity for this week.

Sept. 21
- A woman called police to report that she was locked inside a laundromat. Officers directed her to the "push to exit" button next to the door.

We have a possible explanation of what happened at the laundromat in a previous installment. It seems that people have a hard time getting out of things there.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 20 September 2017

This is the excerpt from the log of local police activity for this week.

September 14* A caller reported that two women had locked themselves in a laundromat bathroom for well over half an hour. The women told police they were waiting for their friends. They were advised to find another hangout location.

I'm unsure where there is a laundromat in the city. I have my own washer and dryer in my home, so I have not had reason to find out. It is nice to know, however, that people are not allowed to hangout in the restrooms of the local laundromat.

“No power in society, no hardship in your condition can depress you, keep you down, in knowledge, power, virtue, influence, but by your own consent.” -William Ellery Channing

[People share a quote that is supposedly by Eleanore Roosevelt in a similar vein. I prefer this. It's source able, and a bit more general.]

“Ingratitude is a common topic of declamation against human nature; and it must be confessed, that instances of it are but too frequent and flagrant, both in public and in private life. Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 13 September 2017

This week's excerpt from the log of local police activity

Sept. 2
- A man contacted police to report that shoe sizes in his apartment were being switched, new food being replaced with spoiled food, and that he struggled with occasional digestive issues. He then declined police service with the confidence that divine authority would soon take care of the responsible parties.
I am unsure why this individual would contact the police in the first place, if he was sure that divine agency would address the issue for him. However, it is nice to know that the police offered to do something for him.

Quote of the Day: 11 September 2017

“Preventing terrorism and mass murder in the US is difficult, more difficult than any other nation, because our Constitution expressly protects the civil liberties of US citizens and limits the powers of the Government. We can do better to prevent these attacks while preserving the rights and privacy of our citizens. We need to do better. But a first step is to recognize the cause of this type of attack and not blame the innocent because of politics.” -J. Kb

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 6 September 2017

This snippet comes form the log of local police activity in the past week.

August 30* A caller reported that a man hit a telephone pole with a machete. Officers found the man but no evidence of machete damage to the pole.
I can safely say, I have never assumed machete damage to a telephone pole. I'm not even sure if I'd be able to distinguish machete damage from damage caused by other long bladed instruments. I'm glad that the police were able to rule it out though.
