Recently Returned From a Trip
My wife and I recently returned from a week long trip. Or, at least, it was a week long for me. I took The pup with me Tuesday morning to my parents' home in the Salt Lake Valley. Thankfully, when you travel with a toddler TSA sends you through a metal detector rather than the perv-o-matic scanner. My wife joined us the following day after completing the baking and drop off run for the eleven items she submitted to the Oregon State Fair competition. From there, she and I were supposed to take off the next morning for Portland, Maine, where we would drive up to see her uncle just outside of Boothbay Harbor.
I have some pictures, but they need post-processing (and more likely heavy culling, if I'm honest.) So, more to come later. Right now, I'm just thankful to be reunited with The pup, and back home.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 29 August 2019
This week's selection from the log of local police activity illustrates why you should walk around your vehicle before driving away in the morning.
August 16I am amazed at how this turned out. I have personally witnessed one instance of someone being run over, and having no injuries as a result. But, that's not how I would bet on things turning out.
A caller reported that he accidentally ran over a man in his driveway in the early morning hours. Police sorted out that the man was on his way to visit an ex-girlfriend and inexplicably chose to take a nap in front of a neighbor’s pickup; the driver pulled forward and over the sleeping man. Remarkably the man was uninjured and police determined the driver was not at fault.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 21 August 2019
This week's selection from the log of local police activity highlights to good that police do outside of the obvious.
August 14I think it is important to showcase the good in the world, and sometimes that means forgoing the funny story from the log in favor of a heartwarming entry. I hope this brightened your day.
Police checked on a man who appeared to be stuck in his wheelchair near a busy intersection. The officer found the battery had died and pushed the man back to his apartment, plugged in his wheelchair, escorted his service dog inside, and assisted in putting groceries away.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 14 August 2019
The selection from the log of local police activity for this week is about the importance of self improvement, of both body and mind.
August 7I can understand being confused upon seeing someone exercising behind the police station (which is next door to the library.) But I don't understand the impetus to call the police about it. Presumably they would notice someone working out where the police cruisers are parked, and if there was a problem would be able to handle, so I can't comprehend the decision making process that led to this call.
A caller reported a man working out in the back lot of the police department. Officers contacted the man who advised he was pumping iron while his children were being tutored at the library.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 8 August 2019
This week's selection from the log of local police activity is simple and straight forward.
August 1If you're going to commit a crime, probably best not to do it directly in front of a police officer. Or two.
A man was arrested for theft after he left a store without paying for merchandise, literally right in front of two uniformed officers.
