Quote of the Day: 6 August 2018

“As the cool and deliberate sense of the community ought, in all governments, and actually will, in all free governments, ultimately prevail over the views of its rulers: so there are particular moments in public affairs, when the people, stimulated by the artful misrepresentations of interested men, may call for measures which they themselves will afterwards be the most ready to lament and condemn.” -James Madison, The Federalist No. 63

Quote of the Day: 5 August 2018

“Many reject the scriptures, the moral memory of mankind, and then declare absolutely the absence of absolutes. Others reject the light of the gospel and then grump over the growing darkness. Still others cut themselves off from God and lament the loneliness of the universe. Some pursue the paths of him who openly desires mankind’s misery, and then bemoan their discontent.” -Neal A. Maxwell

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 1 August 2018

This week's selection from the log of local police activity brings us a tale of a one man fight.
July 21Officers responded to a report of a fight. A short investigation found that a heavily intoxicated man had tripped on his shoelace and smashed out the front window to the house.
It takes skill, or incredible intoxication, to be able to give the impression of a fight all by yourself. I am impressed with the accomplishment even if I wish to never duplicate the feat.

Quote of the Day: 1 August 2018

“Freedom is dangerous, but I prefer it to the alternative.” -Austin Petersen
[I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. Sometimes I agree with the quotes shared more than others, but in this case there is no way for me to agree any more than I do.]
