Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 30 May 2019

This week's selection from the log of local police activity is about a vigilant, but misguided citizen.
May 23
A citizen called to report two males in plain clothes wearing vests that said “Salem Police”. The citizen was advised that the Salem Police Department was in the city investigating a case.
Good job to the citizen for keeping an eye out for suspicious activity. But, while it is unusual to see something like that in Forest Grove, Salem is not so far away that it would be unthinkable for their police officers to come here to investigate something.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 23 May 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity for this week is about marital infidelity and police involvement.
May 11
A woman called police to request contact information for her husband’s mistress and asked that police attempt to convince her husband to be honest with her. She was advised that neither requests were services police accommodate.
I can't explain why this woman thought the police were the best people to contact about this. I know they wouldn't be on my list of people to talk to. Not that I ever expect to encounter this situation.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 16 May 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity for this week is hard to sum up.
May 4
A caller reported that a neighbor was attempting to spray paint a fire lane along their shared driveway area, understandably causing tension between all parties involved. Officers contacted the painter who admitted that he had no legal authority to apply paint or create fire lanes, and was estimated to have caused more than $1000 in damage. The investigation is ongoing.
That amount of damage seems excessive. But I'm sure it's possible.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 9 May 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity this week is a tale of fowl play. Literally.
April 28
A caller reported an unknown man in their yard following their chickens. Officers contacted the man and instructed him to leave the property and cease following fowl.
This is what gets reported to the police around here. Thankfully, we live is sleepy little city (and it's just big enough to be a city.)

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 1 May 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity this week is a tale of mistaken identity.
April 24
A caller reported finding a bag of marijuana in a laundry mat. Police identified the substance as laundry soap and it was promptly disposed of.
I would likely be able to identify a baggie of marijuana, but that is only because I went on a police ride along a few years ago during which I was shown one. I cannot think of a laundry detergent that would look anything like it. I'm sure this mistake makes sense to someone. But, not to me.
