Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 28 June 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity this week is all about the advisability of driving while afflicted with poison ivy contact.
June 17
Police received a call that a pickup seen crossing the center and fog lines several times was headed northbound on Highway 47 into town. Officers stopped the driver who had come in contact with poison ivy and was attempting to scratch his legs while driving.
So, maybe if you're itchy from poison ivy, don't drive (and as I understand it, you shouldn't be scratching it anyway.)

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 19 June 2019

This week's selection from the log of local police activity is about an ill-advised request for police presence.
June 11
A man called police to request an officer standby for a civil matter. Officers promptly arrived and instead took the man into custody as he was wanted for Criminal Mischief.
How stupid do you have to be to actually request police presence when you have an outstanding warrant? But I bet I can identify where he came up with the idea that the police are available to stand by for a civil matter.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 13 June 2019

This week's selection from the log of local police activity is about the activities of local teenagers.
June 6
Police contacted a group of kids who had congregated on the roof of a park restroom facility. They were advised to find a different place to assemble.
This is a fully understandable call. Though I would probably have walked away shaking my head instead of calling the police.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 6 June 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity for this week brings to mind the battle of wits from The Princess Bride.
May 29
Officers checked on a man who was seen passed out on the sidewalk along Pacific Avenue. On contact, the man unconvincingly advised police he had not been drinking and challenged the officers to a contest of wits in their knowledge of theoretical physics. Officers agreed, won, and then challenged the man to stand on his own two feet. He could not, and was subsequently taken to a detox facility.
I'm unsure why a police officer would think they had the theoretical physics knowledge sufficient to best all inebriated individuals. Probably the physical manifestations of impairment. But someone here, maybe more than one someone, was suffering from Dunning-Kruger Effect.
