#APicADay 2019: Day 31, Prompt: Trick or Treat

The final image. I would have gotten a better one if I hadn't gotten distracted making a bowtie for my brother's wedding tomorrow.

#APicADay 2019: Day 30, Prompt: Highlighted

While walking through the zoo this morning, I was looking for something I could use. I didn't find anything responsive to the prompt, but The pup and I had a good, though very cold, time with his grandmother.
So, instead I fell back to my backup plan.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 30 October 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity for this week involves a man from a very long time ago.
Oct 21
A caller reported a man in a Darth Vader mask approached her while walking along Main Street and asked where the nearest bank was.  Police were unable to locate any Sith in the area, detected no unusual imbalances in the Force, and no imperial credits were reported missing from any financial institutions.
I am glad that the local police force is able to not take itself too seriously. I'm also somewhat concerned that a resident felt it necessary to contact police for being asked where the nearest bank was. I am sure there are plenty of innocent reasons to need a bank without needing a particular bank, Darth Vader mask notwithstanding.

#APicADay 2019: Day 29, Prompt: 3, 5, 7

I wasn't sure what to do with today's prompt. I ended up using a suggestion my brother made last night.

I had only a little time to take a picture today because I was traveling to be there for my brother's wedding on Friday.

#APicADay 2019: Day 27, Prompt: Odd Numbers

There's not much to say about today. Dinner was later than planned and most of the good light was gone by the time I went looking for today's image. The prompt was less inspiring today as well. So, there's that.
Today's image:
26 mm, f/3.2, 1/150 s, and ISO 160
Then there's these two that I took prior to the one that I selected.
34 mm, f/3.6, 1/300 s, and ISO 160

41 mm, f/3.6, 1/58 s, and ISO 250

#APicADay 2019: Day 26, Prompt: Change in Seasons

I had thought I'd be grabbing some pictures as I drove home from a crabbing trip out to the coast. However, with a toddler in the back seat who wasn't napping, and being in a long line of cars on the highway, I decided it wasn't the best idea to stop on the side of the road. (It was also between two and three in the afternoon, so the light was only good in a few places.) Instead, I went for a walk this afternoon.
Today's image:
37 mm, f/11, 1/56 s, and ISO 160
There were also these others.

18 mm, f/11, 1/26 s, and ISO 250

50 mm, f/5.0, 1/75 s, and ISO 1250

25 mm, f/5.0, 1/38 s, and ISO 500
36 mm, f/3.6, 1/600 s, and ISO 160

#APicADay 2019: Day 25, Prompt: Where I Stand

Nothing interesting to say about today's pursuit of an image.
Today's image:
39 mm, f/5.6, 1/220 s, and ISO 160
Then I noticed that leaf between my feet had water on it.
33 mm, f/3.6, 1/680 s, and ISO 160

#APicADay 2019: Day 24, Prompt: Looking Forward To

I spent a bit of time thinking what I could do in response to this prompt. I started thinking a farmer's field might work, especially if there was a tractor doing something in it at the time. Then, I passed a sign for a u-pick blueberry patch, and I thought that would be a good thing to do. Ultimately I went a different direction.
Today's image:
37 mm, f/5.6, 1/56 s, and ISO 1000
Oh. And if you want to take this as an announcement, you can. The pup has a little sister that will be debuting sometime late next month or early in December.

#APicADay 2019: Day 23, Prompt: Imagination

I had a bit of an easier time with this prompt than with other recent prompts. I stopped on my drive home from work to take some pictures, and then went on a walk to look for some more. Not all my ideas panned out, but these ones did.
Today's image:
23 mm, f/22, 1/10 s, and ISO 1600
Then there were these other images as well.
22 mm, f/3.6, 1/1500 s, and ISO 160

24 mm, f/7.1, 1/125, and ISO 160

55 mm, f/7.1, 1/10 s, and ISO 1600

44 mm, f/7.1, 1/60 s, and ISO 1600

18 mm, f/7.1, 1/60 s, and ISO 1250

48 mm, f/6.4, 1/50 s, and ISO 1000

55 mm, f/11, 1/600 s, and ISO 160

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 23 October 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity this week is about appearances being different from reality.
Oct 15
A caller reported a man with no shirt making noises and flapping his arms along a busy roadway. Police contacted the man who was changing his shirt and in no distress.
There was not a lot worth talking about in the log this week. Hopefully something more interesting appears next week.

#APicADay 2019: Day 21, Prompt: A Favorite Place

This represents my favorite place. This is the city I live in.
Today's image:

Then, this is one of my favorite views that I see while out on walks through the neighborhood.

#APicADay 2019: Day 19, Prompt: Pumpkins

I have seen this display while out looking for images to fulfill previous prompts. So, I knew exactly what I wanted to go get when I saw this prompt. There is a bit of post processing on the image, including a small crop because I didn't get close enough physically when I captured the image
Today's image:
55 mm, f/6.4, 1/80 s, and ISO 320 (cropped)
I was also struck by this oak leaf that was heavily back lit.

#APicADay 2019: Day 18, Prompt: Emotions

This prompt gave me some difficulty because of my lack of models, and unwillingness to post pictures of my wife or The pup.
So, here's today's image:
18 mm, f/9.0, 1/26 s, and ISO 1000
This is from The pup's trip to Build A Bear to receive a birthday present with a friend.
There was also this image at the same time.
55 mm, f/11, 1/60 s, and ISO 6400

#APicADay 2019: Day 17, Prompt: Homemade

I took a picture of a quilted wall hanging my mother-in-law made for us a few years ago. Side lit to reveal texture, and provide color variation.

#APicADay 2019: Day 16, Prompt: Orange Glow

The weather here today has kept me indoors. So, in order to meet today's prompt, I improvised a light source with an orange gel. I used an LED flashlight, and two of The pup's orange translucent magnet tiles. Then I used some dice and a cup as my subject.
Today's image:
50 mm, f/4.0, 1/75 s, and ISO 2000
One thing I'm noticing as I do these images is that I am not having significant noise appearing in my images even up to ISO 3200.

Forest Grove Police Log excerpt, 16 October 2019

The selection from the log of local police activity for this week includes a review of a new movie.
Oct 8
A woman called police upset that people had laughed at her when she went to watch Downton Abbey at the theater.
Can't say I'd appreciate the derision myself, but I am certain that calling the police would not have occurred to me.

#APicADay 2019: Day 15, Prompt: Falling Leaves

I had difficulty with today's prompt because of the time I had available to shoot. Or rather, the time I didn't have to shoot. I ended up going out to my front yard with my tripod and remote trigger, setting up to point into a tree, and throwing leaves in front of the lens. All while The pup was trying his level best to shake the tripod.
Today's image:
37 mm, f/3.6, 1/15 s, and ISO 1250
There you go. Not my best work, but probably the best I could do while handling a toddler with no assistance.
