Throwback Thursday: Use of the Foot to Aid in Archery

Detail from Codex Aboensis
We all know how important form is to accurate archery. Things have come a long way from the days when you had to wear different colors on your left arm and right leg from your right arm and left leg. And can you believe that balancing the bow on the foot would cause the string to become so slack that you could draw the arrow back about half way without putting any tension into the string? I'm also incredulous that they used arrows about three quarters the height of a man with heads larger than many spears had.
